Here is where I attempt to blog about Julianne Hough for 100 days straight. This was inspired by Allie Jones’ 500 blogs on Kristin Cavallari, a much funnier read.
If you don’t know, Julianne Hough was once an 18-year-old engaged Mormon. (Her Wikipedia page makes no mention of this, but I never forget.) She was engaged to Zack Wilson, a dancer from Utah, from 2006-2007. This is what I know about him after hours of research:
According to The Seattle Times, Julianne and Zack met at their Salt Lake City dance studio when she was 9 and he was 14. (I cannot find said Seattle Times article.) He proposed on Christmas Eve (I believe 2006), according to The Seattle Times. That would make Julianne 18 years old and him 23 or so. They planned on having a Mormon ceremony in Utah.
They postponed the wedding in late 2007, but said they were still together.
In early 2008, Zack competed on Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann, a spinoff of Dancing With The Stars. Contestants competed in singing and dancing and Zack won. His winnings landed him a gig with High School Musical 3, where he had to learn Zac Efron’s dances while Zac was filming another movie and then teach the dances to Zac once he returned to the HSM3 set.
During season 6 of DWTS in March 2008, Zack sat in the DWTS audience while Julianne danced alongside Adam Carolla. Julianne’s father very much wanted Julianne and Zack to end up together, according to TV Guide.
“You know, I think that’s what everybody wants,” Zack said, according to this article, “including me and her. But right now, she’s just trying to focus on getting her album out and getting her career set. And I am, too. We talk on the phone all the time and we see each other as much as we can. But we’re not trying to get too serious with anything like that right now.”
In an article on deseret.com, the journalist writes that Julianne and Zack were engaged twice. (I cannot find any other mention of this.)
Julianne’s debut album came out in May 2008 and she joined Brad Paisley on tour, where she met country singer Chuck Wicks. There is no more information about Julianne and Zack breaking up for good, but Julianne began dating country singer Chuck Wicks in August 2008.
In 2012, Julianne reflected on her first engagement.
“He was a great guy — I’d known him since I was 9,” Julianne told Glamour, according to US Weekly. “But I needed to figure myself out more, and so I moved to L.A. and we ended it. And actually, he ended up marrying my childhood best friend, and now they have a kid together. It was a little weird when it happened, but they’re a great couple!”
I did find the new wife and she and Zack are still very much together and Mormon.
