100 Days of Jules, Day 59: Julianne Will Not Stop Telling This Story

Julianne met a little girl once.

Here is where I attempt to blog about Julianne Hough for 100 days straight. This was inspired by Allie Jones’ 500 blogs on Kristin Cavallari, a much funnier read.

When Julianne Hough was pursuing country music in 2008-2010, she regularly told one story about giving the earrings off her ears to a little girl named Lexi. It is the one fan story she tells over and over again and I’m sick of hearing it.

1. Here she is telling it in 2009 at a press conference.
“One thing that was kind of cool is that last night when I really badly played softball, there was a fan that was in the audience and she was a little girl. Her name’s Lexi, which of course is the name of my dog, so I was like drawn to her immediately. Totally cute. She liked my earrings, so I gave her my earrings and I saw her today and she had them on; it was really cute.”

2. Telling it to E! in 2009.
“There was a cute little 7-year-old girl and she kept telling me how much she liked my earrings. She was like, ‘Ah, I love your earrings.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, you want them?’ She was like, ‘Oh, do you want mine?’ And I was like, ‘No, it’s OK, you can keep them.’ And then she found me like later on in the night and she said, ‘Here, I want you to have them.’ So I put them in and I saw her today and she had them on. It was really cute. Things like that I’ll always remember, so hopefully she’ll remember and that’s what this week is all about.”

2. She told it in 2010.
“There was this one little girl that I actually just met at the softball game here this week and she was so cute and just like her eyes were so wide. She was so excited and I remember, she was like, ‘I really like your earrings; they’re really pretty.’ And I was like, ‘Do you have pierced ears?’ And she’s like, ‘Yeah,’ and I said, ‘Well, here; here you go.’ So I gave them to her and she was like, ‘Well, do you want mine?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, no no no, you keep them, you keep them.’ And then she came out and found me later and she gave them to me. She was like, ‘I want you to have them,’ so I put them in and wore them and I saw her the next day and she was wearing the earrings and just so excited, so hopefully she’ll remember that because I’ll remember that too.”

3. Again in 2010. A reporter specifically asked her about it.
“I saw her. Her name is Lexi. I remember her name because it’s the same as my dog’s name, but I saw her at the City of Hope softball game and she had the earrings in again and it was great. It was really wonderful.”

4. Finally, she told it a year later in 2011.
“Well there was a time I was in Nashville. I was playing a celebrity softball game and there was this little girl that was kind of behind the fence and she came up to me and was talking to me and she asked where I got my earrings; they were really pretty. And she was wearing these fun little spikey ones, so I switched earrings with her and the next day we were doing some fan signings; it was CMA Music Festival, and she came up and she was wearing my earrings and I was wearing hers and she was like so excited, so I don’t know, just things like that, like I will always remember that and I hope she does, too.”
