Welcome to 50 Days of Addison Rae, a Just PMSing original blog series where we explore all things Addison Rae, TikToker, dancer, YouTuber, Kardashian friend.
When the Internet laughed at Addison Rae, she turned it around like any good businesswoman does.
During a video on Genius’s Between The Lines YouTube series, Addison Rae breaks down different TikTok hits. One of those hits is a song called “Addison Rae” by The Kid LAROI. The lyrics are, “I need a bad bitch, Addison Rae,” but instead of saying the word “bitch” when she’s reciting the lyrics, Addison Rae says, “bleep.” She went on to say, “These lyrics are obviously very heartfelt to me because I am Addison Rae.”
Suddenly a meme was born. TikTokers began making fun of it by lip-synching to the audio. Some poked fun by pledging the allegiance with the audio and some made up dances to it.
One month later, Addison Rae took the meme and made it into merch and began selling “I need a bad bleep” hoodies and tees and now, even masks. (Should I buy one?) Addison Rae isn’t the first celebrity or influencer who took a meme about them and turned it into money — Kylie Jenner, Keke Palmer, and more have all done it.
What’s so funny about all of this is that while Addison Rae doesn’t say the word “bitch” (here is another TikTok of her not saying it), she dances to the most insanely raunchy music while doing quite sexual dance moves.
That’s our bad bleep, Addison Rae.
