50 Days of Taylor Swift, Day 4: Playing A Guitar At A Party

The blog (this blog, the one you’re reading) that brought you 100 Days of Julianne Hough and 50 Days of Addison Rae now brings you 50 Days of Taylor Swift. 1, 2, 3… Let’s go, bitchPhoto by Dwight McCann

In 2014, Taylor Swift was on Late Night With Seth Meyers, where she and Seth reminisced on her hosting SNL in 2009.

For her monologue, Taylor wrote her own, which was a musical number called “Monologue Song.” Seth, who was SNL’s head writer at the time, explained that when Taylor approached him with the song, she pulled out her guitar and played it to him.

“Can I sit in a really close space with you and play a song,” Seth said, playing out the situation, telling Taylor it had potential to be his worst nightmare. Taylor replied, “Dude, oh, I know, I understand.” The two laughed.

But during a special on GAC Shortcuts, a 16-year-old Taylor does just that.

The scene is obviously set up, especially with the perfectly placed ad for Oscar Mayer in the corner, but at a high school campfire, Taylor played guitar and sang “I’d Lie” to a handful of people. Was Taylor lying on Seth Meyer’s show and this is actually something she enjoys?

Yes.

In 2020 while on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, Taylor admitted she likes when she’s asked to play music at parties.

“It’s weird,” she said. “It’s almost like we like music.”

In 2018, Dave Grohl told a story on James Corden’s show about being at a Paul McCartney party. After Paul played a few songs, everyone looked to Dave to play music next. When Dave realized there was only a piano and left-handed guitars at the party, instruments he can’t play, Taylor volunteered and started playing a Foo Fighters song.

“She saved my ass,” Dave said.

Fun!
